Occupational Therapy and Mental Health

If you have obtained a referral to Occupational therapy for your mental health, OccupAction can help you.

Identify your stress factors

Our mental health program is managed by our occupational therapists. The goal of treatments is to regain cognitive and physical capacities by the identification of stress or other factors causing fatigue or reduction of energy.

We then can determine your level of functionality and help you with concrete solutions to overcome those stress factors which have an impact on your energy level. Once you begin to regain capacity, a planned and progressive return to regular activities is implemented. The return to daily activities is done with the utmost care for the clients self-respect and happiness.

Process

The process involves individual meetings every week for a predetermined time (average 8-12 sessions), in order to identify possible solutions to overcoming any issues hindering a successful return to work or which could result in a relapse. Group workshops are also offered on established topics related to work, workplace relationships, chronic pain, etc.

Furthermore, given the goal of increasing energy level, individual sessions of physical activities with a kinesiologist are offered as an integral part of all of these interventions.
